Meet Our Therapists

Michael Peters, PT

Michael Peters opened Maumee Physical Therapy in March 1998 with the idea of providing high quality, individualized therapy treatments provided by licensed therapists, designed to return patients to their desired endeavors safely and quickly. In November 2004 Mike moved the practice into our present therapy facility, allowing the opportunity to expand services to include aquatic therapy for the acute patient who is unable to exercise in a land based environment or for those who suffer from osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Mike has served as an instructor on several subjects in the area of orthopedic physical therapy at Wayne State University in Detroit, and the Medical University of Ohio. Areas of specialty include sports medicine, general orthopedics, and industrial rehabilitation. Mike has specialized training in the area of biomechanical disorders of the foot and how they effect the rest of the body. Mike is an avid golfer and fitness enthusiast

James Vitale, PT

Jim brings over 30 years of clinical experience including a 29 year history of private practice ownership to Maumee. His reputation has been built on delivering quality personalized care and service to his patients, while providing a professional therapeutic experience as people recover from their physical and functional challenges. His clinical expertise has its foundation in orthopedic care with a long time specialization in the treatment of all spinal conditions. Jim is a 1983 graduate of the Medical College of Ohio PT program with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Bowling Green State University, and also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from BGSU. Most recently, Jim operated The Spine Care and Rehabilitation Center in Ottawa Hills since 2001. He is a lifelong Toledoen who was inducted into the Start High School Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003. In addition, he has served on several alumni boards at BGSU, is a past member of the Admissions Committee for the Medical Collge of Ohio Physical Therapy program, and has given countless hours to a variety of school and charitable organizations. 

Terry Foster, PTA

With over 23 years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant, Terry is a specialist in aquatic physical therapy, orthopedics, and sports medicine. Terry has helped many patients in the Toledo area providing therapy services in their homes, assisting many in their transitions the home therapy environment to the more challenging outpatient setting. Personal interests include tennis, skiing, guitar and automobile restoration. Terry is married to Michelle and is the proud father of two daughters, Haley and Sydney.

Debbie Roughton, PTA

Since graduating from Owens Community College with a Physical Therapist Assistant degree, Debbie Roughton has specialized in orthopedics and manual therapy including myofascial release techniques which is very effective in the treatment of chronic pain. Debbie also specializes in the treatment of total joint replacements, sacroiliac dysfunction (lower back pain), along with shoulder and elbow injuries. Debbie has worked side by side with Jim Vitale, PT for the past several years.

Michelle Foster, PTA

Michelle Foster has 23 years experience helping patients in various therapy settings, including outpatient clinics, nursing homes and home health. Specializing in neurological and orthopedic physical therapy, Michelle has extensive post graduate training in sports medicine including kinesiotaping and soft tissue mobilization, along with advanced training in aquatic therapy and the benefits of water on healing tissue. Michelle has been a past instructor in the area of ergonomics, body mechanics, and transfer skills. Recreational interests include kayaking and tennis.
